MPTA's Preschool, Little S.T.E.P.S., is a classroom-based speech, language, and communication program for children with neurological conditions and disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Apraxia, Auditory Processing Disorder, and Sensory Processing Disorder). It focuses on the core features of social development/play skills, communication, cognitive development, motor development (fine and gross), and sensory integration.

Little S.T.E.P.S. is a therapeutic preschool program based on the DIR developmental model and Floortime® strategies to promote social-emotional development in children. The DIR model focuses on 3 key elements in a child’s learning: Developmental levels, Individual differences, and Relationships. Little S.T.E.P.S. Preschool provides an environment that offers semi-structured problem solving, sensory based activities (motor, sensory, visual-spatial, perceptual), and child-directed play; each of these activities is aimed at promoting social-emotional development in each child. Our ultimate goal is to help each child to relate, communicate, and think independently. Little S.T.E.P.S. Preschool is run by Rachel Greenberg, MS, CCC-SLP and Dawn Forsmith, OTR, MOT.
