Free, year-round facilities striving to provide positive experiences & opportunities!

The Urban Youth Academy mission began in Compton, Calif. in 2006 and has since expanded to two more facilities and three that are in the process of being built. There are already intact facilities in Compton, New Orleans and Houston, and new academies are currently being planned or constructed in Cincinnati, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and south Florida.

The Urban Youth Academies offer free year-round instruction for inner-city youth in baseball and softball, and it also stresses the importance of continuing education and mentorship within the community. Vocational programs and clinics include broadcasting, field maintenance, coaching, scouting, umpiring, and more!

The family of UYAs have seen nearly 100 kids drafted by professional baseball teams with over 200 going on to college. Four former UYA participants have reached the Major Leagues and three have been First Round draft picks.

Eventually, MLB hopes to have an urban youth academy in virtually every Major League city (and beyond).
