Books2Eat: 4th Annual Houston Edible Book Festival

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 03/30/2019
April Fools’ Eve’s Eve is the perfect time to blend culinary creativity with literary love and sprinkle with a dash of humor. What’s an Edible Book Festival? It’s an event that features food shaped like, or referring to, books. Beginning with that simple and silly premise, much is possible! Co-hosted by the Houston Book Arts Guild and WiVLA (Women in the Visual and Literary Arts), this festival celebrates the witty and creative connection between the books we love and the food we love to eat.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

A little competition adds spice to the evening:

Guests will vote their favorites in these categories:

Best Depiction of a Classic
Most Appetizing
Funniest/Punniest
Beloved Children’s Book
Overall Fave

Prizes to be provided through donation by local bookstores and eateries.

How did Edible Book Festivals get started?

Art librarian Judith A. Hoffberg and artist Béatrice Coron held the first edible book festival in 2000, after Judith conceived the idea at a holiday dinner with book artists in 1999. Béatrice created the Books2Eat website with a photographic gallery of edible books and links to similar events worldwide.
