We’re here to welcome everyone to the singing, spinning, spectacular world of theatre –– because the power of performance extends well beyond the stage. It enhances social and motor skills, confidence, creativity… and it’s downright fun. To bring the joys of music, art, dance and drama to all families, TUTS provides accessible, affordable fine arts education for children and young adults with disabilities, chronic illnesses or are economically disadvantaged. Siblings are also welcome to share in the smiles. With a common goal — to extend arts access to children of all abilities — Theatre Under The Stars merged with The River in 2010. This revered pairing of two Houston-grown non-profits broadened TUTS’ educational reach into the city’s special-needs community through the demonstrated expertise of The River. Whether kids are twirling or tapping, singing or stenciling, The River’s year-round, barrier-free classes allow all children to delight in the drama of the performing and visual arts. Financial aid is available. The River offers fine arts courses in visual arts, dance, drama, music & more during the fall & spring semester and 6 weeks of summer camp.
