Mexican Americans celebrate the Mexican national holiday referred to as Fiestas Patrias, also called Diez y Seis de Septiembre. It commemorates Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla’sqv grito de Dolores who called for the end of Spanish rule in Mexico.
