ATA Houston, a nonprofit organization established in 1979 to promote cultural ties between Turkey and the United States, will be hosting the 27th Annual Houston Turkish Festival after a four-year hiatus on September 23-24. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye, and the festival will be at its new venue for this special celebration, The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park. The festival will have onstage entertainment featuring performances from local and international artists such as Yeni Turku, a globally renowned Turkish band, and Tuana, a dance troupe that has performed in 45 countries. In addition, the festival will host a wide variety of arts and crafts; a market with local vendors; Turkish food, beer, and wine; Turkish coffee; and a dedicated children’s area with free arts, crafts, and games. The World Pavilion will showcase booths from other cultural organizations in the Houston area. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to earthquake relief efforts in Turkey. Tickets are $10 for adults in advance, $12 at the door, and children under 13 are free. Tickets at www.houstonturkishfest.com.
