Aztec New Year Celebration: Planting of the Corn

Join Houston Botanic Garden, Xochipilli Collective, Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl and Danza Chikawa de Conroe in celebrating Mexica New Year, also known as Aztec New Year. Experience storytelling, a ceremonial planting of a three sisters garden, free corn, bean and squash seeds for audience members, traditional dance performances by Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl and Danza Chikawa de Conroe, Indigenous craft vendors and a free family craft activity.

Join Houston Botanic Garden, Xochipilli Collective, Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl and Danza Chikawa de Conroe in celebrating Mexica New Year, also known as Aztec New Year. The celebration will begin at 1pm on Saturday, March 18th, (traditionally celebrated on March 12th) and it will include storytelling, a ceremonial planting of a three sisters garden, free corn, bean and squash seeds for audience members, traditional dance performances by Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl and Danza Chikawa de Conroe, Indigenous craft vendors and a free family craft activity.
