Beachcombing 101 at Galveston Island State Park

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 02/24/2018
Treasures await you at the water's edge!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Join Ranger Lisa for a great shell hunting workshop, identification, and collecting expedition! Cold winter water makes this the best time for beachcombing, so dress for the weather and be prepared to get your feet wet!

We'll start at the Nature Center for a brief park orientation before we caravan to the beach where we can review the basics, hand out equipment, and use the restroom before we go treasure hunting.

So join us and grab your own collection of shells, sea beans, and beach treasures!

What to bring:

  • Park permit
  • Clothes and shoes to get wet (optional)
  • Water bottle
  • Camera (for those great ocean shots)
  • Pail or bucket for collecting

*Times, dates, and prices of any activity posted to our calendars are subject to change. Please be sure to click through directly to the organization’s website to verify.
