The “Gentlemen of Hip Hop” bring a unique combination of entertainment and art – a high energy, non-stop mix of hip hop, classical, and modern dance with an added touch of Vaudeville. Choosing a wide variety of music, Fly Dance Company uses ensemble dancing to contrast dancers’ solos, adding classic choreography techniques, clever staging, acting skills, costuming, and comedy. Mix this with hip hop dancers’ raw movement – powerful, funky, graceful, and sometimes bordering on the impossible – and the result is Fly’s distinct style of “theatrical hip hop”. Their clean-cut, wholesome concerts have populated venues around the world – ranging from Barrow, Alaska to Washington’s Kennedy Center – while producing their own concert season in Houston and making multiple trips to Europe. With new pieces in its repertor and additional dancers (Kenny and Jeffrey Louis, Sidney Pritchett, Joel Aguilera, Timothy Pena, Jesse Magana, and Canarus Leon), Fly Dance Company is starting a new string of standing ovations with the promise of much more “history” to come.
