The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will open the 2019-2020 season, the orchestra’s twenty-eighth, with Russian Fireworks, an exciting concert spotlighting classic works from Russian composers. Russian Fireworks will be presented at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2019, at the Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Road in Stafford..
A concert for all ages, Russian Fireworks will feature Night on Bald Mountain (Modest Mussorgky), the Russian Festival Overture (Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov), Marche Slave (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky), and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 2: The Little Russian, movement 1 (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky).
The afternoon will also feature an exhibit of art and artifacts from the Russian Cultural Center of Houston. The RCC’s mascot Russian bear Misha will be on hand to meet, greet and take photos with patrons. No worries for safety: Misha is charming, well-behaved and stuffed!
