Sickle Cell Community Consortium, The Potter’s Smile and the As One Foundation, with support from sponsors Chiesi and Agios, will host its inaugural Sickle Cell 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at The Shops at RedBird in Dallas, bringing together patients, families, advocates and the broader community for a Halloween-themed day of movement, health education and awareness benefiting the sickle cell community.
Under the theme “Every Step Supports a Smile,” the event will also shine a light on an often-overlooked aspect of sickle cell care: oral health and access to dental services for people living with sickle cell disease. Attendees will receive access to free on-site dental screenings, a community blood drive and health resources, while also featuring a fall market, music, costume and cosplay participation and family-friendly activities.
Created by sickle cell advocate and Project Smile Project Manager Shamonica Wiggins-Mayes, Project Smile is dedicated to addressing oral health disparities and improving access to dental care for adults living with sickle cell disease.
